Saint James way: Personalized guidance on the Portuguese route
Hiking the Camino de Santiago with Marie, from Porto to Santiago, was an incredible experience—not just physically, but above all, on a human level.
Marie was present long before the journey even began, offering valuable advice on physical preparation and gear while sharing her own experiences and the philosophy of the Camino. As a seasoned hiker of the Bulgarian mountains and a lover of long urban walks, I prepared myself gradually, perhaps underestimating Marie’s warnings about the physical toll of sustained effort over multiple days. But Compostela is not just a casual Sunday stroll—it’s a true endurance challenge.
Thankfully, the beauty of the path, the inspiring encounters, Marie’s clever tips, moral support, encouragement, contagious good humor, and mischievous spirit turned this journey into a deeply rewarding adventure. Despite the fatigue and occasional pain, I experienced moments of pure joy. This trek also helped me realize many aspects of my life that needed improvement—and together, Marie and I even crafted an action plan to enhance those areas in my daily routine moving forward.
One thing is certain: without her, I would have missed out on so many beautiful experiences. She pushed me to give my best, and that is priceless. I wouldn’t go as far as calling it a spiritual journey, but my path was filled with moments of pure grace—moments I will always cherish in my heart.
