Thailand’s daughter
On the peaceful shores of Koh Mook Island, south of Thailand, my attention was captured by a graceful woman practicing yoga by the sea. I was instantly mesmerized by her elegance and the fluidity of her movements, harmonizing effortlessly with nature.
A few days later, fate brought our paths together once more at the resort where I was staying. Seizing this perfect moment, I introduced myself and suggested a collaborative photoshoot.
My vision for this photoshoot was clear: I wanted to showcase her authentic beauty through two distinct atmospheres—capturing the lush, vibrant spirit of Thailand’s jungle, as well as the golden serenity of its beaches at sunset hour. The resulting images reveal her connection with nature, effortlessly blending strength, tranquility, and authenticity.
During our jungle shoot, she trusted me enough to pose topless, gracefully hidden behind giant tropical leaves, creating artistic and elegant imagery. Laughter punctuated our session, especially when the sunset brought relentless mosquitoes, momentarily interrupting us as we rushed to apply repellent.
A photoshoot can be full of surprises and you have to adapt quickly. For me situations like this are filled with laughter because those situations are funny and when it’s out of your control there nothing to be embarrassed about.
At the ocean, the mood shifted to playful bravery. The waves crashed around her, soaking her pink dress and gently pushing her out of comfort. Noticing her subtle hesitation, I reassured her, guiding her confidently through each splash. This collaboration resulted in striking imagery—particularly the powerful shot of waves crashing against her—symbolizing trust, courage, and embracing vulnerability for the sake of art.
Second part of the shoot: by the sea
Envisioning an authentic portrayal of her beauty, I guided her through diverse environments—from peaceful jungle scenes showcasing her yoga practice, to captivating portraits by the ocean. Through gentle encouragement, we captured powerful images, even in moments when she stepped beyond her comfort zone, embracing the playful force of ocean waves.
This series tells a story of trust, connection, and capturing authentic beauty.
This collaboration also inspired me to write about guiding models gently out of their comfort zone, uncovering their true potential, and capturing authentic moments.
